Aion 1 week after launch user reviews

Man, Aion seems to be the WoW killer that people need. OK I’m only level 15 at the moment and still need to experience more of the games mechanics. But it feels almost like a clone but with suttle differences. Once I get more geared up with the game I will do a comparison for people who are in WoW and what to expect from Aion. This has to be one of the most beautiful looking MMO’s I’ve ever seen.

GTX 285 now working on Snow Leopard Hackintosh

geforce-gtx-285 Today after hacking around with my plists I’ve managed to get my GTX 285 1gb working. Happy days and it feels much faster.

Update:

Due to people not having any luck, I’ve uploaded my boot files, put these in the extras folder and use the latest Chameleon version.

Migration from Mac Book Pro to i7 Hackintosh

corei7 Hmmmm…. its late and I’m tired.

Its taken absolutely fecking ages to get files moved today. Been working on and off whilst I’ve been installing apps, fonts, files, music…. Transferring from MBP to HDD then HDD to Hackintosh is a time eater. But hey its done now. Trouble is I’m paranoid that doing the slightest update will screw everything up so I’m backing up my daily efforts on Time Machine. Once done, I can relax and try and hack my way into getting the 3D driver to work on Snow Leopard. As it stands its fast, but simple tasks like small animations stutter. This is due to the fact the GTX 285 isnt being recognized yet and running in Software mode. I’ve been given a method from one of the guys from EFIXusers.com in which I’m going to do as soon as the backup is finished.

130gb out of 162gb to go. Its been over 4 hours so far backing up, but its worth it as I don’t want to waste another day. But it will be worth it in the end.

Update on Hackintosh build & Aion

corei7 Talk about a huge learning curve, I know Mac but hacking it is a different kettle of fish. Kext files, permissions, ahhhhh!

Anyway I’ve installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 & OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.1. Only problems I’m having is getting sound and the right video card driver. But that’s another days work, will stab at this over the weekend.

Windows works like a charm. Windows 7 seems very fast bootups and gaming is…. Whoa! I’ve installed Aion and running it on 2560 x 1600 (My native 30″ Apple Cinema display) with 8x AA, Bloom 3 and everything set to max. Getting an average of 150fps and looks absolutely beautiful. I will post some screenshots soon. Installed Call of Duty 4 and maxed everything out on top resolution. Getting about 100fps and it looks fricken awesome.

As for Aion only level 7 and so far its amazing. Chain spells are awesome.

corei7 After waiting for 9 days for the parts to arrive, its finally here. It feels like Christmas, just need the time to spend putting it all together. Then installing Windows 7 (for gaming), then hacking into OSX (for work). I know the hackintosh part isn’t going to be easy, so when work calms down. I can post on how I’ve done it.
